Job Description
:
  • Mapping out Seed Source client’s fields and soil sampling for variable rate inputs with our SoilOptix top soil mapping program.
  • Soil sample Seed Source client’s fields for constant rate fertilizing.
  • Crop Scouting- crop staging, weed, disease and insect identification.
  • Communicating with the team on a regular basis.
  • To maintain professionalism with Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists.

Your Potential Experience:
  • Work closely with a Professional Agrologists to gain experience in managing healthy crops in a budget.
  • Gain experience to recommend pesticides with your knowledge of scouting weeds, disease, and insects.
  • Learn how to soil sample fields and provide fertility recommendations.
  • Learning how to relate with customers and provide agronomy needs.

What is needed:
  • Can communicate with others effectively.
  • Engaged to learn new things and new practices.
  • Can gather, record, and organize information.
  • Know how to use Google Drive, Microsoft Office, WhatsApp, and various other mobile apps.
  • Must have a class 5 driver’s license.
  • Must be studying or convocating in the College of Agriculture.

Sales Assistant

Become a Sales Assistant as you will be asked to understand customers’ needs to help them make the best decision of their farming operation. We are looking for more customer focused individuals that represent us beyond the field. We need people who can adapt to a changing agriculture industry and are ready to be a trendsetter in seed genetics. We are looking for individuals who take pride in being a part of a professional environment as we continue to provide independent products and services in ways that no other companies can.

Responsibilities:
  • It would be expected for this individual to report to Seed Source main office.
  • Communicating frequently with Sales Manager on the sales and project updates
  • Providing your agronomic knowledge with an outstanding customer service to customers.
  • Loading customers orders which will involve operate a forklift, tractors, augers, seed treater, etc.
  • Promote and support new products from crop input suppliers
  • Identify, manage, and communicate new agronomy consulting and marketing opportunities
  • Achieve annual business targets and report them
 
Qualifications:
  • Valid Class 5 drivers licenses
  • Successful completion of Certificate in Agriculture or Agri-business.
  • Must be applying for PAg and/or CCA
  • Must have 2 years of Customer service experience
  • Is comfortable to operate small farming equipment
  • Experience in producing a report using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Drive
  • Basic agronomic knowledge
  • Positive and enthusiastic personality that enjoys talking to people

Summer Job Position – License Seed Crop Inspector

Gain exposure out in the field learning basic agronomy. We will provide you the knowledge of identifying weeds, diseases, insects, and seed varieties. This position also provides you a license that is recognized by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, which is required in the pedigree seed industry. Caliber Seed Services also inspects for TransOrganic Canada, Avena Foods, and AgCall; who need a third-party inspector to report. We require a self-motivated and driven individual to deliver agronomy services in a timely manner during the growing season.

Responsibilities:
  • Organizing and scheduling your inspections with clients
  • Submit reports and forms on a timely fashion
  • Be in good standings under the eye of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency
  • Initiate conversations with clients, co-workers, and lead crop inspector
 
Qualifications:
  • Individual that is self sufficient, organized, manages time, and can also work in a team
  • Complete field inspections and ensure inspection documents are complete, accurate and neat
  • Customer focused with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with customers in a professional manner
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Is comfortable in walking long distances
 
How do you benefit?

  • If you decide to inspect with us in two growing seasons and in good standings in Group 6 license; you can gain a Group 3 license which allows you to inspect higher pedigree seed status plots. For example, breeder and select status plots.
