Senior Agronomist

The Senior Agronomist leads agronomic operations, crop health strategies, and field trial programs, providing expert guidance across seed production and identity-preserved crop programs. This role combines high-level field management with leadership, serving as a technical mentor to Junior Agronomists and a direct partner to farm operators and industry clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development by: supervising, training, and mentoring Junior Agronomists in scouting protocols, soil sampling, pest identification, and data collection.
  • Crop Production & Technical Advisory by: develop comprehensive crop management plans, including soil fertility strategies, crop rotations, chemical/pesticide protocols, and seed selection.
  • Field Research & Innovation by: leading the plan, implementation, variety evaluations, and agronomic research projects.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture (B.Sc. Ag), Plant Science, Agronomy, or a related field.
  • Certification: Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.) designation or Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) status (or eligible for immediate registration).
  • Experience: 5+ years of practical agronomy experience in broadacre dryland farming systems, with demonstrated leadership or direct management experience.
  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of Prairie cropping systems, field scout methodologies, grain quality metrics, and weed/disease management.
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
